New Mexico

Welcome to the Land of Enchantment!

New Mexico is the 5th largest state in the nation, has the highest percentage of Hispanics and the second highest percentage of Native Americans in the United States. Such diversity has created a vibrant and unique culture, worth exploring.

The Albuquerque metropolitan area is the largest in New Mexico, with a population of more than 900,000 people. The state capital, Santa Fe, founded in 1610, is located 60 miles to the north, and has a population of 70,000 people. The neonatal care is concentrated in the Albuquerque area:

1. The University of New Mexico, Division of Neonatology: is the flagship academic institution for the state. University of New Mexico Hospital has a 36-bed level III NICU, with the only ECMO program in the state.

2. The Children’s Center at Presbyterian: has a busy level III, 56 bed NICU
