Neonatology in BC There are 4 Level III NICUs in British Columbia.

The largest is situated in Vancouver at the Children’s and Women’s Health Centre of British Columbia, with 2 NICUs within Fraser Health Authority in New Westminster (Royal Columbian Hospital), and Surrey (Surrey Memorial Hospital) and one NICU in Victoria on Vancouver Island (Island Health). Provincial services are linked through Perinatal Services BC (PSBC), which works towards optimizing maternal, neonatal and fetal health through educational support to care providers, outcome analysis, networks and multidisciplinary perinatal guidelines.

The University of British Columbia Neonatal-Perinatal fellowship program is based at the Children’s and Women’s Health Centre of BC and is one of the largest programs within the Department of Pediatrics . The fellowship program director is Dr Susan Albersheim.
